Deals and M&As this week: L Catterton, Gryphon Investors, Givaudan

L Catterton has entered an agreement to invest $200m in The Honest Company.

L Catterton is a private equity firm, while The Honest Company is a producer of baby and lifestyle products. Both companies are based in the US.

Goldman Sachs & Co is the exclusive financial advisor to The Honest Company for the transaction, which will enable The Honest Company to progress its innovation initiatives and strengthen its supply chain and global reach.

Gryphon Investors has invested in Water’s Edge Dermatology, a medical, surgical and cosmetic dermatology and skincare services provider based in the US.

Water’s Edge will hold a majority stake in the business, upon completion of the transaction.

Houlihan Lokey is the financial advisor to Gryphon, while Harris Williams is the financial advisor to Water’s Edge for the transaction.

Kirkland & Ellis is the legal advisor and Jones Day is the regulatory advisor to Gryphon, while McDermott Will & Emery is the legal advisor to Water’s Edge for the transaction.

Givaudan has acquired Expressions Parfumées from shareholder Orfite and Expressions Parfumées’ management.

The acquisition was funded by Givaudan through its existing resources.

Givaudan Fragrances offers perfumes to personal, home and laundry care brands globally.

Founded in 1982, Expressions Parfumées offers Natural Compounds (NATCO) products.

Univar Ltd has acquired Earthoil Plantations, a subsidiary of Treatt.

Based in the UK, Earthoil Plantations supplies organic, fair trade vegetable seed oils and provides natural raw materials to companies in the personal care sector.

Univar Ltd is a wholly owned subsidiary of Univar Inc.

Earthoil Plantations will be integrated into Univar’s personal care business, upon completion of the transaction.

The acquisition enables Univar to enhance its personal care business line.
