Edgewell to acquire Jack Black cosmetics brand

US-based consumer products firm Edgewell has agreed to acquire men’s skincare producer Jack Black for an undisclosed sum.

Scheduled to be closed in Q2, the transaction is expected to be earnings-per-share (EPS) neutral in the 2018 financial year and will be funded by operating cash flow.

Jack Black’s acquisition is subject to customary closing conditions, which includes the US antitrust clearance.

Edgewell chief operating officer Colin Hutchison said: “The Jack Black brand is a strong and complementary addition to Edgewell’s portfolio based on its unique brand positioning, prestige channel footprint, and product assortment.

“This acquisition creates opportunities to expand our personal care portfolio in growing categories in the US and globally, while nurturing the strong brand equity that the Jack Black founders have developed.”

Jack Black was founded in Dallas, Texas, in 2000 by Curran Dandurand, Jeff Dandurand and Emily Dalton.

The skincare producer offers bodycare, shaving and haircare products, as well as fragrances, razors, and gift sets in the US and Canada.

Moelis & Company served as financial advisor for the deal to Edgewell, while Piper Jaffray & Company served as financial advisor to Jack Black.
