Henkel unveils Schwarzkopf SalonLab system for haircare

German cosmetics firm Henkel Beauty Care has launched Schwarzkopf Professional SalonLab.

SalonLab features the SalonLab Analyser and the SalonLab Customizer devices, which are supported by the SalonLab Consultant App. These were developed in collaboration with technology firm iconmobile.

Henkel Beauty Care chief marketing officer Marie-Eve Schroeder said: “At Henkel, innovation is in our DNA and leveraging the opportunities of digital technology in our business activities is an integral part of our strategy.

“With SalonLab, we are reinventing haircare with a hyper-personalised solution empowered by a holistic application of connected devices.”

The hand-held SalonLab Analyser utilises near-infrared and visible light sensors to measure inner hair quality, moisture levels and hair colour. These readings are analysed and processed by a proprietary algorithm developed by Henkel Beauty Care scientists that uses a complete digitalised hair model based on reference measurements.

The analysed data can help hairdressers consult clients on personalised colour and care options.

The SalonLab Consultant App displays SalonLab Analyser’s diagnostic results, which helps users visualise how a colour might look before undertaking colour treatment.
