J&J brand Neutrogena to launch new skin imaging technology

Johnson & Johnson (J&J) skincare brand Neutrogena has revealed details of its new dermatologist-grade skin analysis tool, Skin360 app and SkinScanner.

Making their debut at the Consumer Electronics Showcase (CES) in Las Vegas, US, the beauty tool and mobile app were developed in partnership with start-up company Fitskin to make skin and cosmetic analysis accessible.

J&J’s global president of beauty Sebastien Guillon said: “Smart and connected technology helps us provide our consumer with personalised analyses and information she needs in real time so she can make decisions that will help her achieve her best skin ever.”

Assembled with 12 high-powered lights, a 30x magnification lens and highly-accurate sensors, the SkinScanner tool reads skin quality data into the Neutrogena Skin360 app and displays a set of scores that forms the basis for skincare advice.

In addition, the score advises the user on how their skin will change over time and instructs how to adjust skincare routines in the future.

The app uses machine learning technology for intelligent analysis and precise recommendations.

Neutrogena offers more than 650 products worldwide, while FitSkin was established in 2016 by Harvard MBA graduate Sergio Rattner.
