Kendo Holdings introduced new products Kat Von D Beauty 24-Hour Super Brow Long-Wear Pomade, Brow Struck Dimension Powder, Signature Brow Precision Pencil, Pomade Brow Brush #70, and Powder Brow Brush #75 under its Kat Von D Beauty brand in the US.

Kat Von D Beauty 24-Hour Super Brow Long-Wear Pomade has a waterproof formula that claims to offer smudge-proof eyebrows.

Priced at $19, this sweat-proof formula is available in 16 shades, including seven neutral eyebrow tones. The formula can be applied using the Pomade Brow Brush #70, which is available for $18.

MIDA and CVF signed MoU to support Malaysian cosmetics industry

The Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) entered a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Cosmetic Valley France (CVF) to make contributions to a sustainable cosmetics and personal care industry in Malaysia.

The MoU was signed during MIDA Mission to Paris, which was led by MIDA’s CEO Dato’ Azman Mahmud.

According to a release published by Malaysia’s national news service Bernama, the decision follows recent growth and rising demand for natural and organic products developed according to the Malaysian halal system.

CITIC Capital acquired New Zealand beauty firm Trilogy International

CITIC Capital China Partners acquired New Zealand-based natural beauty care and home fragrance company Trilogy International Limited (TIL Group).

Through its subsidiary CS Company, TIL Group distributes cosmetics, fragrances, haircare products and skincare products in New Zealand.

CITIC Capital’s senior managing director Hanxi Zhao said: “We are delighted to become the new owner of TIL Group. The company owns remarkable brands in the beauty and lifestyle sectors such as Trilogy, Ecoya, Goodness, Lanocreme, By Nature, as well as CS&Co, a leading distribution platform for beauty products in the New Zealand market.”

Bloomtown received palm oil-free certification from Orangutan Alliance

UK-based cosmetics company Bloomtown’s body and skincare products were certified by the Orangutan Alliance.

The Orangutan Alliance International Palm Oil-Free Certification was launched in 2017 to assist consumers on the issue of conflict palm oil. Bloomtown is the third cosmetics company worldwide to join the movement following Canadian beauty brand LOA and Nuttvia brand Hazelnut Spread.

Orangutan Alliance’s founder and chairperson Maria Abadilla said: “Our team has developed an easy-to-recognise, clear international palm oil-free logo and labelling style guide that can be easily applied to food, household and beauty products for the industry to adopt so that consumers can easily identify if the product is palm oil-free.”

Singapore’s HSA recalled 18 cosmetic products

Singapore Government agency Health Sciences Authority (HSA) issued a public alert regarding the use of 18 skin whitening and anti-acne products.

During tests conducted by HSA, the products were found to contain potent and undeclared ingredients, including high levels of mercury, hydroquinone and tretinoin.

Large quantities of hydroquinone could cause rashes, redness, a burning sensation and skin colour changes, while Tretinoin may cause redness and peeling.

Coty launched augmented reality tool Magic Mirror in Paris

Global beauty company Coty introduced new augmented reality (AR) makeup try-on experience Magic Mirror at its Bourjois boutique in Paris, France.

Coty has partnered with Holition and Perch Interactive to develop the new service, which integrates Perch’s technology with AR software development kit (SDK) Face by Holition.

Coty global digital innovation senior director Elodie Levy said: “As part of our desire to reinvent the retail experience through purposeful and personalised innovation, the Bourjois Magic Mirror represents the most extensive integration of physical products and digital content in the beauty industry.”

Camuto Group introduced new fragrance Divina Vince Camuto in the US.

Divina Vince Camuto features scents of grapefruit, blackcurrant, violet leaves, mimosa blossom, sunflowers, heliotrope, sandalwood and musk.

Givaudan perfumer Caroline Sabas has created the new eau de parfum spray, which is available at Macy’s and other retailers across the country.

Deinove and Greentech launched anti-ageing active ingredient Hebelys.

Developed by fermenting Sphingomonas bacterium from the Deinove strain library, Hebelys contains a p16 IINK4A protein that is claimed to prevent premature cellular ageing.

The ingredient is said to help skin regain density, suppleness and elasticity.

Clinical study found Age-Repair Defensins reduces wrinkles

A clinical study confirmed that patent-pending ingredient Age-Repair Defensins decreases wrinkles and pigmentation.

The ingredient is featured in Progenitor Biologics’ anti-ageing skincare product DefenAge Skincare, which is said to improve the visual appearance of skin without causing irritation, dryness or inflammation.

DefenAge utilises three-step system Clinical Power Trio, which comprises Reveal Masque, 24/7 Barrier Balance Cream and 8-in-1 BioSerum.

Estée Lauder selected American model Karlie Kloss as its global spokesmodel and brand ambassador.

Previous Estée Lauder spokesmodels include Carolyn Murphy, Gabriella Wilde, Hilary Rhoda, Fei Fei Sun, Joan Smalls, Misty Copeland, Yang Mi and Kendall Jenner.

The company will introduce Karlie’s campaigns across digital platforms, social media and television, as well as in-store and print media.
