Beauty and personal care brand Avon Products has named Vikram Agarwal as its new senior vice-president and chief supply chain officer.

Agarwal will assume the new role from 1 February 2019 and will be part of the company’s executive committee.

According to Avon Products, Agarwal will help drive the company’s service and efficiencies. This appointment comes after Michael Watson stepped down from the role to pursue other goals.

Agarwal comes to Avon with 30 years of experience in operations and supply chain at Unilever.

Prior to the new role, he worked as executive vice-president of Supply Chain Africa. He managed end-to-end supply chain across 15 countries, 14 factories and 25,000 employees for a multi-billion dollar regional business.

"I’m confident that Vikram’s experience in emerging and fast-changing markets, as well as in transformational agendas make him well-suited to lead a revitalised supply chain team."

In addition, Agarwal served as group vice-president of Global Home Care Supply Chain and was in charge of direct business planning with country and regional leadership.

Avon chief executive officer Jan Zijderveld said: “We are delighted to welcome Vikram to the Avon team and look forward to the expertise and insights he brings from having overseen large, complex supply chains of consumer goods organisations.

“Our supply chain transformation and operating with flexibility to best meet Her needs is central to our efforts to ‘Open Up’ Avon. I’m confident that Vikram’s experience in emerging and fast-changing markets, as well as in transformational agendas make him well-suited to lead a revitalised supply chain team in continuing to drive improvements in service quality and Representative satisfaction and well as ensuring that our global operational structure is operating as efficiently and effectively as possible.”

Furthermore, the company announced that Human Resources senior vice-president Susan Ormiston has resigned from her role, effective January 2019.
