Beauty firm Coty to sell Seaton Delaval manufacturing unit

Global beauty firm Coty is set to sell its manufacturing unit in Seaton Delaval, Northumberland, following a merger with P&G speciality beauty in 2016.

The firm decided to close the facility to consolidate its fragrance operations into limited core centres. It is currently used to produce beauty products and fragrances.

The UK’s real estate advisory organisation Colliers International has been instructed to seek a buyer who can enable the site for future employment use.

Colliers International North East Industrial and Logistics associate director Simon Hill said: “The Coty factory has been a major employer for the Seaton Delaval area for a number of years and as such the closure will have a significant impact on the community as a whole.

“We have been instructed to seek a buyer for the site which can bring employment opportunities back to the area.”

“The sale offers a unique opportunity for a purchaser to acquire a high-quality property that is suitable for a wide variety of uses, in particular manufacturing and distribution. We look forward to speaking with potential purchasers.”

Colliers will also market similar facilities in Ireland and Germany on behalf of Coty.

Coty has a portfolio of more than 77 cosmetic brands, including fragrances, colour cosmetics, haircare, bodycare and skincare.
