Lygos and High Beauty partner to launch cosmetic products with cannabinoids

Lygos, a specialty ingredients provider, has announced a commercial and co-development partnership with High Beauty, a skincare brand with products powered by cannabis sativa seed oil formulations.

The two firms will work together to speed up the formulation and commercialisation of co-branded cosmetic products that are based on naturally derived cannabinoids.

They intend to launch a new skincare collection in winter 2020.

Financial terms of this partnership have not been divulged.

Under this collaboration, High & Bye Refining Oil and Clearing Gel will be the first High product to hit the US market.

The product will contain Lygos-CBG (cannabigerol), a non-psychoactive cannabinoid with antioxidant properties to target blemish-prone skin.

High Beauty founder and formulator Melissa Jochim said: “High is expertly formulated with Cannabis sativa seed oil in combination with bioflavonoids and terpenes to provide all the nutrients needed for healthy, beautiful skin. We are now able to enhance our new High & Bye collection with Lygos’ pure Lygos-CBG.”

Lygos CBx claims to use an environmentally safe and highly adaptable methodology for delivering valuable compounds that cannot otherwise be easily extracted from the plant.

To ensure a consistent and safe consumer experience, its cannabinoids are claimed to be THC-free.

High Beauty sells its products through online. Its products are also available at many beauty retailers, including Macy’s, Douglas, Kohls, Shoppers Drug Mart, Lookfantastic and The Shopping Choice.
