Australian medical cannabis company MGC Pharmaceuticals has unveiled a new cannabidiol (CBD) skincare product through its European cosmetics subsidiary MGC Derma.

Known as CBD Herbal Replenish Cream, the offering is the second CBD-based skincare product introduced by the company this year under its Derma Plus collection.

The compounds present in the cream are extracted from cannabis that is produced within the MGC Botanic division. The product was developed for external skincare and treatment of inflammatory skin conditions.

“The newest product will be a valuable addition to the range supporting our brand and increasing our presence within the CBD-infused skincare space.”

The company’s Derma Plus range aims to improve the natural defences of the skin and to stimulate the skin functions and regeneration.

MGC Pharmaceuticals’ co-founder and CEO Roby Zomer said: “We’re excited with our MGC Derma, the cosmetics subsidiary, progress and its Derma Plus products have now launched and are available to its base of global customers, for sale where legally permitted.

“The newest product will be a valuable addition to the range supporting our brand and increasing our presence within the CBD-infused skincare space.”

The launch follows the company’s introduction of CBD Herbal Repair Cream in January this year. The company launched this product after conducting a clinical study in Europe that assessed the impact of the cream on 24 volunteers over a 30-day period. Results indicated an improvement in dry skin, flaking skin and itchy skin of 71%, 65% and 86% of patients, respectively.

MGC is planning to launch a third product under the Derma Plus range later this year.
