L’Oréal signs MoU with Suez to improve environmental performance

Beauty firm L’Oréal has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Suez to improve environmental performance and optimise resource management at all of its industrial, administrative, and research centres.

Signed for an initial term of three years, the agreement involves development of new solutions for sustainable production, address changes associated with climate, protection of oceans and water resources, and preservation of natural resources and biodiversity.

The firms will also work towards promoting the circular economy and recovery of material at all L’Oréal sites to support reuse and recycling.

Through its partnership with Suez, L’Oréal aims to optimise management, treatment, and reuse of water to achieve a neutral or positive footprint.

To enhance the number of its carbon neutral sites, the company plans to measure, monitor, and optimise the consumption of energy and operate water and waste treatment systems.

L’Oréal's operations executive vice-president Barbara Lavernos said: “For a long time now, L’Oréal has been committed to reducing its environmental impacts with renowned performance on a global scale.

“This partnership with Suez will enable us to take our work even further by using the best technology and innovative solutions to make our environmental performance even better.

“We are convinced that, through this partnership, Suez will provide their dedicated experience to help us achieve this goal.”

The improvement of resource protection and regional integration based primarily on biodiversity, ecodesign, digitalisation, material reuse and recovery in L’Oréal’s production process are being planned as the long-term goals for the partnership.
