L’Oreal to roll-out Ayurvedic haircare range in India

L’Oreal has announced plans to roll-out a haircare range containing natural ingredients to tap the growing demand for Ayurvedic products in India.

The new range will be called Garnier Ultra Blends.

Shampoo, conditioners and oil and creams will be launched under Garnier Ultra Blends brand.

This brand will be first launched in India, with the French cosmentics firm then intending to tap into other markets in Asia.

The haircare segment is dotted with several developments, Emami recently acquired Kesh King Hair Oil and Hindustan Unilever relaunched Ayush, as well as signing an agreement to acquire hair oil brand Indulekha.

L’Oreal India managing director Jean-Christophe Letellier was quoted by The Economic Times as saying: "While we have used global efficiency and expertise in hair care, the formula is crafted and developed for India."

Presently, India’s share in the total group’s annual sales in less than 1%, but it plans to double its sales to €1bn by 2020.

Last year, L’Oréal announced its plans to bolster R&D unit in India to cater to South East Asia’s growing demand for the haircare and male grooming products.

The Paris-headquartered firm invested about Rs10bn in manufacturing and research facilities so far in India.
