Walgreens Boots Alliance signs franchise agreement with Emart

Walgreens Boots Alliance has entered a franchise agreement for its Boots pharmacy chain with Emart, a South Korean hypermarket firm and a member of Shinsegae Group.

Boots intends to provide its beauty products, including Soap & Glory, and No7 in the new outlets, which will open in the first half of next year, reported the Telegraph.

Walgreens Boots Alliance co-chief operating officer Ornella Barra was quoted by the publication as saying: “South Korea is considered a leading market for skincare and cosmetics products in Asia today. 

"We believe there is a significant opportunity to extend the reach of Boots own brands into this market and are thrilled to be doing so with Emart."

Emart CEO Gab-Soo, Lee said: “We are delighted to have the opportunity to introduce the Boots brand, and offer pharmacy care as well as acting as a beauty and healthcare destination by also offering a wide range of both Korean and Boots product brands.”

The two firms plan to open outlets on high streets, near Emart and Shinsegar stores, and shopping centres.

These outlets will sell Boots brands along with South Korean products.
