Oral hygiene market in Greece to experience slower growth rate, says report

The oral hygiene market in Greece will experience a slower growth rate in the next few years to come, finds a new report by UK-based research firm Canadean – Health & Beauty.

According to the report ‘The Oral Hygiene Market in Greece, to 2016’, the compound annual growth rate of the industry is likely to touch 1.38% during 2011-16 as against 2.41% that it registered during 2006-11.

The overall market value of the oral hygiene market in Greece grew by 12.63% in 2011 over 2006 and is anticipated to grow only by 7.8% by 2016.

Market value growth of all the segments, including dental floss, denture care, mouthwash, toothbrushes & replacement heads, toothpaste, breath fresheners (non-confectionery), was found to be similar to that of the overall trend.

Among the segments, toothpaste was the market leader during both 2006 and 2011 with over 47% market value share, followed by toothbrushes & replacement heads at around 25% and mouthwash over 12%, and is likely to retain similar position in 2016.

Toothpaste is expected to lose a tiny portion of its market share through the forecast period to the mouthwash and toothbrushes & replacement heads.

Even in volume terms, toothpaste was the dominant segment with over 51% share, followed by toothbrushes & replacement heads at close to 21% share and mouthwash over 11%.

The overall volume is likely to grow by a mere 0.19% in 2016 over 2011, as against 6.32% that it grew in 2011 over 2006.

Canadean report also provides segment-wise analysis by both brands and by distribution channel for the year 2011.
