Sephora to open 100 stores across North America this year

Cosmetic chain Sephora has announced its plans to open 100 new stores across North America in 2020.

This announcement represents its single-year largest expansion in North America.

Compared to 2019, the cosmetics chain is doubling its number of openings in 2020.

Sephora plans to open stores in 75 locations including Charlotte of North Carolina, Nashville of Tennessee and San Jose of California.

Sephora Americas CEO Jean André Rougeo said: “As I approach the close of my first year with Sephora, I am exceptionally proud of what the Sephora team has achieved; we are optimistically relentless and excited about our growth plans for the future.

“Our focus continues to be on anticipating the beauty needs and desires of our diverse clients across North America. As we look at ways to continue to be more inclusive and accessible, brick & mortar continues to be a huge opportunity for us to deepen emotional connections with our clients and local communities.”

According to the company, the new stores are planned in locations where clients live and work including streets, local centres, and various new and established shopping centres.

The new stores will have classic look and feel of Sephora, and feature sleek architecture and visual design.

The company also disclosed that all the stores will be powered by 100% renewable energy as part of its sustainability programme, Sephora Stands.

It had large scale openings at New York’s Hudson Yard and Times Square.

Founded in 1969, Sephora carries a variety of brands along with its own labels of skincare, cosmetics, nail colours, and body fragrances.
