SC Johnson has signed an agreement to acquire Sun Bum, a brand that manufactures personal care products including sun protection, hair care and lip care products.

The planned acquisition also includes the Baby Bum brand, known for sun protection and baby care products.

SC Johnson Chairman and CEO Fisk Johnson said: “The Sun Bum brand is a welcome addition to our portfolio of trusted products.

“It also expands our robust selection of fast-growing, on-trend products like Babyganics, Method, Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day and Caldrea that appeal to consumers and their families.”

The deal is subject to the US regulatory approval.

Financial details of the transaction have not been disclosed by the companies.

In July 2018, the company announced its plans to globally disclose 99.9% of the fragrance ingredients in line with its strategy to transform industry efforts on ingredient transparency.

In February this year, the company launched its product that uses 100% recycled ocean plastic in a major home cleaning brand Windex.

In 2009, SC Johnson launched to disclose ingredient information to customers.

The company included a comprehensive list of fragrance ingredients in 2012 and added product-specific fragrance disclosure on the website in 2015. SC Johnson expanded its disclosure programme to Europe in 2016, followed by Asia in 2017.

Based in the US, SC Johnson manufactures household cleaning products and other professional products for home storage, air care, pest control and shoe care.

The company’s brands include Glade, Kiwi, Off!, Pledge and more.
